Right people on the bus

I have been teaching a strategy course and I used the book Good to Great by Jim Collins. It is an excellent book to know how to transform a good company into a great company.

One key lesson in the book is to get the right people on the bus, get the wrong people off the bus and put the right people in the right place in the bus.

One way to find out who the wrong people are: If  you have to actively manage the people they are the wrong people.

Small Groups

There are 3 essential elements for small groups

1) Curriculum should be designed so the people can grow and it is consistent across all small groups

2) Real feedback is needed and should be documented at each meeting by the facilitator of the group. This feedback should be sent to the leader who has initiated the small groups.

3) Gathering of the leaders should be planned at regular intervals to train them and help them with any questions/issues.

There was a comment on the earlier post about who is the leader of the small group. The facilitator is the immediate leader in the small group, but is reporting into the leader of the organization who has initiated the small groups.
