I totally agree with Maxwell's quote. A true leader is able to delegate but it’s more than delegation. Leadership involves the teaching of what one knows, so that others too can become a good leader thus impacting more.

I think that leaders are born, but I also agree that those that are born are to be developed

everyone has to be born! I think leaders can be developed and everyone can be a leader in their own domains.

I agree - people that are good leaders in their fields need to share their knowledge with people close to them to help them become good leaders as well.

I already read this book, and since of my reading I have thinking on it every time that I am in a position of leader.True leaders make new leaders.

I agree with this quote because it is very important that Leaders build the Leaders around them in order to leave a legacy for the next generation. A good way to leave a legacy, is in the form of written material such as books. Never underestimate the value of a good book, it can travel across the world and touch thousands if not millions of people.

the people that you surround yourself with determine what kind of person you are. this is not only becuase of association with that person but you tend to develop the traits and bahaviors they exhibit, especially if they are one you look up to or are in a position of authority over you. its important to surround yourself with positive and encouraging people but also exhibiting hte values and morals that are encouraging to others

I like this quote too. It basiclally says to surround yourself with successful people and you will have no choice, but to be succesful.

When I think of leadership I realize how important it is to always ask God to Give your vision purpose to glory His Kingdom.
When You put God's vision Before yours the blessings are endless, and all things are possible.

Taking the time to develop the people around you says a lot about your character, because it's difficult to develop people and shows you're not in the leadership position to exalt yourself.

Candy the only vision that you should be pursuing is based on your God-given purpose.
Nate - Its true that it takes time to develop people but thats the only way the vision can be multiplied.

I belive a true leader shares with people to succed in their life journey. We're all leaders. We sometime need to polish up our leadership skills to shine. John Maxwell is a very wise man, and what makes him so beautiful is that he wants others to succed in their life journey.

By developing leaders around you that support your vision you will become successful and achieve your mission.

Great quote! If we surround ourselves with followers, we may achieve the task at hand but we've invested our energies in the present which will soon become the past. If we nurture our team and develop them as leaders, not only are we investing in the present, but we're creating a sustainable future.

"You can be replaced"; the "disposable workforce": these are the unfortunate undertones at many companies today. But what differentiates those who are replaced from those who are retained is their ability to sustainably contributing to the company. From my experience, it's not only those people who can lead, but those people who also have a track record of developing leaders that are the best assets of a company ... and the ones the company fights hardest to retain.

This is so true. If your vision dies with you it dies for good. If there's nobody to carry the torch when your gone than what good was it to start the journey in the first place?

The three-strand cord is a picture of the power that takes place when two people agree for something in line with God's will for them. As two people become one in agreement with each other, there is a tremendous amount of power. Think how much more so when a whole team is in line.

One of the qualities of a good leader is to be accountable. The leader sets the direction. If it's the wrong direction and the team is lead to failure, a good leader will take that resonsibilty on to himself.
He won't pass that failure on to the others. I find through experience as a team leader that when you continue to give credit to the team when things go well and take the hit when things don't go well, the respect and loyalty you recieve from the others is invaluable. There isn't anything they won't do for you.

True success is indeed measured by succession. Succession is a legacy left behind for the generations to come. The Bible is filled with stories of golden eras of rulers whose kingdoms collapsed after their regime.
Ever too often we come across a path that is littered with unfulfilled visions and unfinished dreams.

Clarification of my comment above:
God gave me a vision for what He wanted me to do, but I initially thought it was my idea. And so I acted on the vision on my own will, and it did not go anywhere. it was not until I realized that it was God's vision for me and put him first that things started to happen to make the vision a reality.
Lesson learned!
If God's not in it, don't do it!

Some people are just naturally attractive and appealing. Other people find ways to get themselves involved with them. I don’t understand a lot about this phenomena, but I have been studying it some.
A smile is a huge improvement over an unexpressive face! Engage with people-listen to them and take a personal interest in them. They'll start to see you as more than just another salesperson.
Until a relationship is formed, people always see you in the context of what you have for them. If you offer them nothing, they will take no interest in you. This seems cruel and unfair, but it is a natural reality. Be prepared to bring something to their life, even if it’s only a smile and some cheer, and a relationship will form.
Without a relationship with someone, it's impossible to know how to be their friend. Of course it's harder to know what to offer to them.

I agree with John Maxwell in developing leaders in one's circle of influence. It is equivalent to leaving a legacy. And the joy that it brings me when people are made leaders under my guidance.
