Servant Leader
The servant leader serves the people and the vision.
Controlling other people’s lives
Is not a godly leader’s trait;
But serving other people’s needs
Is what the Lord considers great. —Sper
“The first responsibility of a leader is to define reality. The last is to say thank you. In between the two, the leader must become a servant and a debtor. - Max De Pree
Are you serving as a leader or are you the boss?

There's a big difference in control and serve. With all the education out there now on 'control freaks' it should make a point to people in leadership on what to avoid doing. It's so much easier when we do things God's way, serve others. It solves so many problems that controlling others brings up. It's truly the secret of great leadership.

Professor Cyril,
Just want to thank you for the inspiration you have given me conducting this class. I really can relate to the MLK "I Have A Dream" speech being african-american. I can really see your passion for leadership and I give you all of my support. To comment on Sara's blog, she is right, if everyone would just be obediant in the word of God all could be well.

Servant Leadership. Love the concept and how Jesus was our ultimate model to follow.
You may also enjoy the work of Robert Greenleaf on this topic, if you're not already familiar with his writings. The historical, conceptual, and implementation of servant leadership has been best encapsulated in the media package entitled Servant Leadership. You may view the program at Trainer's Toolchest's website at www.trainerstoolchest.com and plug in keywords "servant leadership". Enjoy!

Father, thank you for your Son Jesus! Thank you for the example you set and expect us to follow. AMEN!
We are to do as Jesus did and speak as Jesus spoke.

From experience you don't have to be the boss to lead. Doing your work 'above and beyond' as if the boss is watching pays off! Eventually the 'boss' job will be handed to you in a golden platter (Col 3:23-24). Lead by example!

Leadership does not mean bossy. To be a good leader to people he or she needs to care about people's boudaries and accepts as they are. I agree with "The servant leader serves the people and the vision".

How much more, and how much better would our results be, if our bosses followed this creed?
I for one will strive to adopt it.
