Response from Graham Power, Chairman Power Group of companies/Transformation Africa/Global Day of Prayer
At Power it is one of our values, and the specific behavior expected it is part of our culture statement. All staff attends culture workshops annually where teams measure themselves and where very practical case studies are discussed to ensure that all staff is aware of how it affects them directly. We further have an ethics hotline in place. Staff, suppliers and sub-contractors can utilize the line and all incidents are investigated. Information sessions on the Hotline take place on a regular basis and posters are displayed in all areas. An important aspect is to ensure that ethics is part of your performance management system. In Power, ethical dimensions are measure in Leadership assessments, internal customer evaluations, external evaluations and culture and climate surveys. These instruments form part of the performance contracts which affects bonuses. The importance of ethics are also addressed in Leadership development initiatives. We also have an Ethics committee consisting out of employees from different disciplines and levels. An annual "stock take" is done to identify and address potential ethical issues. Ethics is further an agenda point at all management meetings and issues and progress are thus regularly discussed. I believe that it is vital to integrate ethics in all aspects of your business and that a strong awareness must exist at all times.

I to believe that "it is vital to integrate ethics in all aspects of your business and that a strong awareness must exist at all times". I bilieve that every company should strive to create and enhance ethics in their company, and they shall see the difference it makes.

Ethics is not something squeezed into Power. It is incorporated to everything they do. I really liked the idea of an ethics committee so that a broad range of perspectives are taken into consideration.
